We had so much fun and did so many things while Baby was here visiting and now that she is gone we sure miss her. One of my favorite things we did was when we went tubing down the Chattahoochee River. It was very relaxing and the cool water felt amazing.
There are a couple companies in Helen, GA that offer tubing down the river but we chose Helen Tubing and Water Park. It was surprisingly inexpensive and well worth it. If you are only tubing down the river one time it’s $8.00 per person, if you want unlimited times down for the day it’s $12.00 per person or you can pay $25.00 for unlimited tubing and admission into the water park. We also purchased water socks and a stick to push off the rocks with when we got stuck.
It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to get down the river and it’s a very easy ride so it’s safe for kids. Most of the river is fairly shallow, about up to my thigh but there are some deeper areas. I guess it would all depend on the water levels. There are a few rapids but nothing huge. Baby had a blast and so did Grandpa and Grandma.
We didn’t visit the water park. After tubing we were all hungry so we decided to go have some lunch. We ended up at Bigg Daddys Restaurant & Tavern. Mike had BBQ wings, Baby had a burger and I of course had a salad. It was a little on the spendy side I thought but I have noticed you pay more at restaurants in Helen then you do in other areas of Georgia, probably because Helen is such a tourist area. The food was really good though and the service was great so I’m not complaining.
We don’t have any pictures of this trip. I really wish I had a water resistant phone so I could have taken it tubing with us because I would have loved to take a ton more pictures, but it’s not so I didn’t.
I would highly recommend tubing if you are ever in the area. I was very impressed with Helen Tubing and Water Park.
